Born April 22nd, 1983, Shatta grew up around music and art. His stepfather was a DJ in the 80's, and had him listening to artists like Paul Simon, Aerosmith, and LL Cool J. Born with a uncanny gift to draw, he earned a reputation growing up as a talented comic book artist. He later discovered his passion for music production at the age of 16. Shatta would lock himself in his room for hours listening and studying music like a scientist. His ear ranges from obscure egyptian music, 70's soul, 80's funk, pop, blaxpoitation film soundtracks, classical orchestra records, all the way to metal and hip-hop. He grew up studying producers who crafted their own sound like RZA, Dr.Dre, Prince Paul, Large Professor, Pete Rock, Timbaland, etc. His grandmother, who was also deeply rooted in music, by singing gospel, blues, and r&b, and collaborating with legends like Johnnie Taylor, and Bobby "Blue" Bland, she enrolled him into a school of arts back in elementary school, where he would win numerous awards and art contests.

Born a natural fast learner, at the age of 11 he was playing drums in his grandmother's church. He advanced to self learning the piano at age 14. By the time Shatta attended high school he was completely obsessed with hip-hop, art, and writing. Starting out writing poetry, he began expressing himself through his words, developing a desire to become a writer/author. Inspired by some of the most prolific writers, authors, and music producers, he decided to make writing and producing a career. He made his first beat on a ASR-10, and quickly learned the MPC 2000. His choice of weapons today range from software programs like FL Studio, Reason, to hardware modules like the SP-1200 to the most vintage keyboards. He's fully dedicated to becoming one of the most respected hip-hop producers and writers in the game.

Shattastar's production style can be described as "gritty, soulful, dark, and rugged". His writing/blogging style is brutally honest and uncut. He doesn't believe in sugar coating his thoughts, views, and feelings. Mainly because he tells it how it is, and he strives to attack society's standards by encouraging people to be themselves, and not conform to being manipulated by media or society. He also tackles controversial subjects regarding relationships, dating, and sex. Shattastar's explosive talent for writing and producing has caught the ears and eyes of many people online, quickly becoming one of the most popular unsigned up and coming hip-hop producers as well as bloggers. Shatta refuses to mimic any other producer's sound, he dedicates himself to being original and unique. He continues to diversify his musical repertoire by branching out with different artists and digging for the most obscure records and unique sounds to produce top notch originality.
